Transportation

For New York City residents, the Department of Education sponsors student commuting by offering free transportation options through the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) and the Department of Transportation.
OMNY Card
-
OMNY (One Metro New York) is the city’s contactless fare payment system used on subways and buses.
-
Eligible students from Kindergarten (age 5) through 12th grade can receive a Student OMNY Card which allows four free rides per day, including transfers between subways and buses.
-
Rides are free every day, year-round, including weekends. The cards are valid through the school year.
School Bus Service
- The School is also working with the NYC Department of Transportation to implement its first yellow school bus service for the 2025–2026 school year.
- Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade who live in one of the five boroughs may qualify for free school bus transportation to and from school.
- If you would like your child to participate in either of these programs, please check your child’s eligibility and contact office@kennedyinternational.org to let us know of your interest.
