Our Bilingual Approach
Our 1st to 5th Grade Bilingual French-English program follows the complete program from the French Ministry of Education and the New York State Education Department.  Our program uses a fifty-fifty approach, in which our students spend 2.5 days immersed in the French language, and the other 2.5 days in the English language.

Our Elementary program aims to equip students with foundational academic, linguistic and critical thinking skills that will facilitate their successful transition to middle school and beyond. Our curriculum is designed with a harmonized balance of French and American education systems.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

As part of the admissions process, our team will assess applicants’ language proficiency in English and French. For 1st through 5th grade, students must have a solid foundational knowledge of French to be admitted to our school. However, English proficiency is NOT required for admission.

English as a New Language  (ENL): The goal of our English as a New Language (ENL) program is to prepare English Language learners (ELLs) for success by supporting English language acquisitions.   In the ENL class, students develop their language arts skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) as well as specific content-area of instruction. The ENL collaborates closely with the student’s English teacher in order to harmonize the themes of their lessons.

French as a Foreign Language Support: For students with a basic knowledge of French, but who are not fully proficient, French as a Foreign Language (FLE) instruction will be provided to strengthen students’ French language skills.
